For the Students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and all Kids in the Next Greatest Generat

This has been an inspiring week. Out of the darkness of a murderous mad man shines a beacon brighter than anything we’ve ever experienced.

Older generations, including mine, have always stood firm that we are smarter, make better decisions, and have the experience to always be right. We've also had the luxury of age in coercing the younger set to believe our experience always makes us right.

Those. Days. Are. Over.

The “get off my lawn” crowd is about to be forced into retreat. The older generations simply don’t have the ability to compete. They aren’t adapting. They aren’t smart enough. They don’t have the resources to even see the wave that’s set to blow them over.

When 17 high school students were murder, these mostly high school students said enough. We’re done. We’re not taking it anymore. This Tampa Bay Times story captures it perfectly.

This younger generation is capable. They are driven. They are angry. And they possess the resources that no previous generation has had to force change.

Their classmates and friends were killed, and they said enough.

They were told they weren’t old enough to make anything change, and they said wait two years until we are old enough to vote.

They were called liars and paid actors, and they said come and walk a mile in my shoes.

They organized and stormed political hotspots from Tallahassee to Washington DC faster than any other organized demonstration in history by anyone.

The next generation has the tools, they are smart, and they will win.

These tools didn’t exist for the Columbine kids to facilitate much change. The kids from Sandy Hook were too young.

These kids today will win not just here, but everywhere.

We still can’t figure out social and racial injustices. They will.

We still can’t figure out economic equality. They will.

We still can’t figure out the mysteries of curing cancer. They have a better shot than we do.

And I can’t wait for it to happen. The proof it will happen is in the picture above and in the Tampa Bay Times story. This is not a protest as we know it. Look at those faces. They are young, determined, and angry. No one is opposing them except the elected officials behind close doors.

Think about that for a minute. No one is opposing them except the elected officials behind closed doors. There are no Charlottesville-like anti protestors, or anything else like it.

In the coming weeks there will be more protests, including walkouts at schools. I already feel sorry for the high school principal who tries to stop it. He or she will be captured on video and ridiculed in front of the world. These kids will be heard and they will force change. We all need to welcome that change.

I don’t say this lightly, but we’ve yet to see the impact of this newest, greatest generation.
